Oregon Trail (w/o the dysentery)

Yesterday was our second day of travel, and boy were we exhausted from the trip. It has been amazing though, and we've already had some great experiences.

Our first stop on this day was at a coffee shop in Boise, ID that was named the best in the state. Kind of weird crowd here, but fun nonetheless. Nadene and I both ordered lattés at Flying M Coffee House and they were pretty great. We didn't find anything super special here, but it was a great lead-in to the treat we were in for in Portland. Great atmosphere and very nice baristas at Flying M. Keep in mind that the face you're about to see is my "I haven't had coffee yet this morning" face.

After leaving this shop, we arrived in Oregon pretty quick. Pretty beautiful country here and Oregon doesn't smell like onions like Idaho does! (You would think Idaho would smell like potatoes, but nope, onions!)

Though this was our first day in Portland, we didn't get coffee in Oregon but did go to a couple wineries and eat at a fantastic spot called Woodsman Tavern, which was started by the owner of Stumptown Coffee, a popular coffee shop with a couple locations here in Portland. The wine comes from the Willemette Valley just south of the city, and the Tavern was excellent. So far we're very impressed with the fun atmosphere, food, and wine here in Portland. This is exactly what we came for (except, of course, for the coffee)!

We are having so much fun on this journey so far! Tomorrow will be filled with much coffee and more fun surprises, and we'll be camping on the beach the day after. Coffee roasting tours are in the books and maybe even a jump up to Seattle over the weekend. Until next time, cheers!
