Day 1

Yesterday we began our trip across the country to sample some of the nations's best coffee. We live in Fort Collins, CO, so that is where we began. Our first stop was the Bean Cycle in Old Town Fort Collins. This is by far the best coffee shop I have been to in any town I've ever lived. The front of the store is a fantastic brew bar that serves all kinds of espresso drinks, french press, chemex, pour overs, and drip coffees. The baristas here really know they're stuff and they roast their own coffees on top of it all. In the back of the shop on the left is a new and used book store that shares the same space called Wolverine Farm Publishing. This is such a fantastic store in every aspect!

Leaving Fort Collins, we traveled to Salt Lake City, UT to find a spot called Alchemy Coffee that was named the best coffee shop in the state by Business Insider. This cool little place was an intimate, skeleton themed shop with some great original drinks. We ordered the Nina Simone - an Americano drink with homemade chocolate sauce and cinnamon on top. Delicious! This is one we'll certainly have to try at home when we return!

And of course, we couldn't get out of SLC without going to one of our favorite breweries, Squatters. Years ago, I had my first beer that I actually liked in this spot. An oatmeal stout with a barbeque bison burger. We had to relive the memories and indulge one more time before leaving for Idaho.

After Squatters, we made the 5 hour trek to Boise, ID where we spend the night. All in all, we logged over 800 miles yesterday and will be going another 400 today. We've had a blast so far and can't wait to get to the coast to see the city of Portland and get hyped up on the caffeine that flows so liberally from this incredible region of the country. Until next time, cheers!
